In a bid to address environmental concerns, Telangana Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, held a meeting on November 22, 2025, with representatives from the ‘Save Banyan Trees’ organization in Hyderabad. The discussion focused on the preservation and protection of the ancient banyan trees that are a significant part of the region’s rich biodiversity.
The meeting comes at a time when concerns over deforestation and loss of green cover have been escalating across the country. The ‘Save Banyan Trees’ organization has been actively campaigning for the protection of these ancient trees, which are not only an integral part of the region’s cultural heritage but also play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance.
According to sources close to the Chief Minister, the meeting was productive and both parties agreed on a series of measures to be implemented for the preservation of the banyan trees. These measures include strict penalties for those found guilty of illegal felling or damage to these trees, increased awareness campaigns, and the establishment of protected zones around these trees.
