In a significant announcement made on Monday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy revealed that his government aims to fill one lakh job vacancies by June 2026, within two and a half years of assuming office. The announcement was made at an event in Nalgonda district where he launched the distribution of new ration (PDS) cards.
Reddy highlighted that the Congress government, under which he serves, set a national record by recruiting 60,000 people within a year of taking office in December 2023, as reported by PTI. The Chief Minister criticised the previous BRS regime for failing to fill government vacancies for a period of ten years, leaving thousands of unemployed youth to prepare for competitive exams in Hyderabad.
The Telangana state has been facing unemployment issues due to the failure of the previous regime to fill up the job vacancies. The Congress government’s move to recruit 60,000 people within a year has been hailed as a significant step towards addressing this issue.
It is worth noting that the BRS party, which was in power before the Congress, did not manage to fill up these vacancies during their tenure. This oversight left many youths in Telangana struggling to secure employment. The current Congress government’s initiative to recruit 1 lakh people over the next two and a half years is seen as an attempt to rectify this situation.
