Telangana Police Forms New Special Investigation Team to Probe Alleged Phone Tapping During Previous BRS Administration

In the ongoing investigation into phone tapping allegations during the previous BRS regime in Telangana, the state police has constituted a new Special Investigation Team (SIT). The nine-member team is under the supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar.

The Director General of Police (DGP), B Shivadhar Reddy, issued an order to establish the SIT. Notable members of the team include Ramagundam Police Commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha, Siddipet Commissioner of Police SM Vijay Kumar, and Deputy Superintendents of Police Ch Sridhar and Nagender Rao.

ACP, Jubilee Hills, Venkatagiri, has been appointed as the investigating officer for this case, who has previously overseen investigations into other matters. The team’s formation comes amidst ongoing scrutiny and calls for accountability in the alleged phone tapping incident.

The Supreme Court is closely monitoring the investigation, emphasizing the importance of a thorough and impartial probe to ensure justice is served. More updates are expected as the SIT continues its inquiry.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court, on Friday, has extended the custodial interrogation of Prabhakar Rao in the phone tapping case until the 25th of this month.

The Telangana government has submitted a report to the Supreme Court detailing the custodial interrogation conducted over the past week.
