Telangana’s Shivani Karra Adds Silver to Her Haul at 69th SGFi National Swimming Championship for Girls

In New Delhi, teenage swimmer Shivani Karra from Telangana continued her successful campaign at the 69th SGFi National Swimming Championship for Girls 2025-26 on Day 5, securing a silver medal in the U-14 girls’ 100m backstroke event. The competition took place at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Stadium.

Shivani’s time of 1:09.97 was enough to earn her the second place, with CISCE’s Shreya Binil taking the gold medal with a faster time of 1:09.14. This latest achievement adds to Shivani’s impressive run at the championship, as she has already claimed two medals – a gold in the 200m backstroke and a silver in the 50m backstroke.

Meanwhile, Sudhiksha Krishna from Telangana also delivered an impressive performance in the U-19 girls’ 50m freestyle event, clinching a bronze medal with a time of 28.24 seconds. This victory serves as another testament to the state’s growing presence in the swimming arena at the national level.

The competition is expected to continue through the remainder of the week, with numerous other talented swimmers seeking to make their mark and add to the excitement of the championship.
