In a concerning development, the Nallamala forest located within the Prakasam district has been at the center of fear and apprehension as four tiger attacks have been reported over the past few weeks. The latest incident occurred in Palutla, a tribal village in Yerragondapalem mandal, where a big cat attacked two cows on Saturday night. This marks the second such attack in Palutla within a span of 10-15 days.
The tiger attacks have raised concerns among villagers, who now live in constant fear and uncertainty. To potentially prevent future incidents, forest range staff from GV Palli have set up trap cameras to monitor the movement of the big cat and other wildlife within the forest boundary.
This wave of tiger attacks comes at a time when human-wildlife conflict is a pressing issue across various regions in India. The Prakasam district administration has been urged to take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of the local population, while also preserving the delicate balance between human habitation and wildlife conservation. The exact motive behind these attacks remains unclear, but it is hypothesized that the tiger might be in search of food due to possible scarcity within its natural habitat. Efforts are being made by the forest department to relocate the animal if necessary, while ensuring it does not pose a threat to human life.
