Hyderabad, August 27: A tragic flood incident has claimed three lives and left twelve individuals stranded in the Kamareddy and Medak districts of Telangana. The devastating impact of heavy rains in the region continues to unfold as rescue operations are underway to save those trapped.
In a heartrending turn of events, Dr Vinay Kumar, a dedicated hospital staff member at Gundaram Palle hospital in Rajampet mandal, lost his life when an embankment of Devuni Cheruvu (tank) breached in Kamareddy district. The ensuing water surge resulted in the collapse of the wall, taking Dr Kumar’s life as he was swept away.
Elsewhere in Medak district, floodwaters have trapped 12 individuals who are awaiting rescue efforts. As per the latest reports, the authorities are working diligently to reach these individuals and ensure their safe evacuation from the affected areas.
The Kamareddy District Collector, Rajipeta Tanda, expressed deep condolences over the loss of life and assured the families of those affected that every possible effort would be made to support them during this difficult time. “Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones in these floods,” he said. “We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of those still stranded and will continue our rescue efforts until everyone is safe.”
As the situation remains critical, local authorities are appealing for help from relief organizations and the central government to cope with the mounting challenges posed by these floods. With continued heavy rainfall forecast for the coming days, it is essential that all resources are mobilized to address the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Telangana.
