‘DMK Is a Theeya Sakthi’: TVK chief Vijay Launches Sharp Attack at Erode Rally
Erode | December 18
Addressing a massive public gathering in Erode, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay launched a direct and aggressive attack on the ruling DMK and rival political forces, branding the DMK government as a “Theeya Sakthi” (evil force) and projecting TVK as a “pure people’s force” committed to real change.
In his speech, Vijay accused the DMK of betraying the people of Tamil Nadu by failing to fulfil its election promises, neglecting farmers, presiding over rising unemployment, and allowing corruption to thrive under its rule. “Those who came to power promising change have instead become a theeya sakthi that works only for power and family,” he said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
Attack on DMK Governance:
Vijay said the DMK government had reduced governance to symbolism and propaganda while people continued to struggle with joblessness, safety concerns, and rising living costs. He alleged corruption in key sectors, including agriculture procurement and employment generation, and claimed that ordinary citizens were paying the price for administrative failure.
“The government talks big, but on the ground there is no relief for farmers, no jobs for youth, and no safety for women,” Vijay said, reiterating that the DMK had failed on its core responsibilities.
Positioning TVK Against ‘Old Politics’:
Without naming other opposition parties directly, Vijay criticised what he called “adjustment politics” and “convenient silence” among established political forces. He said TVK would not compromise or dilute its stand merely to remain electorally relevant.
“There is a difference between opposing for namesake and opposing with conviction,” he said, positioning TVK as an uncompromising alternative to both the ruling party and traditional opposition politics.
Invoking Dravidian Icons:
Vijay invoked the legacies of Periyar, C.N. Annadurai and M.G. Ramachandran, stating that their ideals belong to the people of Tamil Nadu and not to any single party. He accused the DMK of selectively appropriating these leaders while abandoning their core principles in governance.
‘Not Freebies, but Real Governance’:
Rejecting politics centred on electoral giveaways, Vijay said TVK’s focus would be on dignity, employment, women’s safety and long-term development. “People don’t need temporary benefits. They need a government that stands with them,” he said.
Responding to criticism about his political style and long speeches, Vijay said real politics requires speaking honestly about people’s problems, regardless of time constraints.
‘Pure Force vs Theeya Sakthi’
Summing up his address, Vijay framed the political contest as a clear moral choice. “This is not just an election. This is a fight between a theeya sakthi and a force that stands for justice and the people,” he said, declaring that TVK would take that fight to every corner of Tamil Nadu.
