In a move aimed at enhancing eye health services across Telangana, Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha announced on Friday the establishment of permanent ‘Eye Care Clinics’ in various parts of the state. The minister made this declaration during Question Hour in the Legislative Council.
The new clinics will be modeled after Day Care Cancer Centers, with a focus on decentralizing eye health services to offer screening, diagnosis, and treatment at district headquarters. This approach aims to make these essential services more accessible for residents in remote areas.
Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Hyderabad has been designated as the central ‘Hub’ for this network of clinics. The hospital’s extensive resources and expertise will serve as a foundation for the new system, ensuring comprehensive care and efficient management.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve eye health services across Telangana by bringing modern facilities closer to people in need. The government will work diligently to ensure the successful implementation of these permanent Eye Care Clinics throughout the state.
